The Tessandori Tribe

Adoption means different things to many different people… and just like each family is unique and special in it’s own way, we feel that our family has room for more amazing children.

To the Tessandori’s adoption is a way to expand our family.

Since we started this process with the Special Needs Adoption Training (through Boys and Girls Aid) in January of 2010, it’s been a challenging and introspective process, but one that has really been enlightening as well.

We trust in the system and know that the perfect child is out there, waiting for us. We don’t know who it is yet and we don’t know when it will happen, but we know that it will.

As a family we also value Integrity – Integrity as being a part of our lives, not just “doing what you say you are going to do” (although that is important too). This means that we honor our commitments and acknowledge if we can’t meet those commitments. You see, as a family we know that this will include our home as an anchor, creating the type of community that fosters creativity and love.

In the meantime, we’ve been doing what all good parents do: Educating ourselves!

In addition to a monthly Adoption Support group we also have regularly attended events from NAFA and annual events like Shoulder To Shoulder.

We are excellent adoptive parents because…

We’re flexible with our time and energy: Both Megan and Tommy have worked for their respective employers for a long time and have accrued not only good amount of paid time off, but are in a position to request time off for family events when necessary.

We’re prepared: Already having a daughter, we are in the perfect position to care for another little one. We’re very open with Emma when appropriate and she feels valued in our family. We plan on using this same technique with any other child that comes into our lives.

We’re ready: At a moments notice we have a family counselor ready to meet with us and a room ready to go for a new child. We’ve been open with our support system

If you have any questions, we’d love to talk to you directly.
